Welcome to my first “newsletter”.
It’s actually not a real newsletter, because not all the things are even news (e.g., there is some math from the 20th century). So let’s say this is a letter to you, a diary entry, or perhaps a chain of thoughts. 🌝
My name is Tereza, I like math, listening to my friends’ voice messages, working (currently helping E2B grow), and eating vegan Ben & Jerry’s. I live between Prague, San Francisco, and sometimes inside my head.
Why am I writing?
I’m kind of bad at talking. Especially in louder environments, the only input you receive from me is saying “WHAT” three times, followed by mumbling some of my generic responses, like “the market’s too early” or “this is actually an optimization problem”. I’m not just bad at talking to one person, but also to bigger groups of people.
That’s why I sometimes choose to isolate and only communicate with the outside world via blog posts.
As a proud owner of free will, I will write about anything I enjoy in this “newsletter”; you can expect a variety of topics consolidated into a wild mix.
This one will be more about nerdy stuff (math, physics, books), the next ones might be about startup growth, AI, agents, choosing fancy furniture, or Silicon Valley gossip.
Life update
Last month, I bought a LEGO Disney castle and an apartment in Prague (which will make a separate blog post). Both for coping with my current life.
To be honest, I felt very unhappy (compared to my normal) in the last few weeks and had some personal and health issues going on, but I don’t want the first edition of this text to be negative. 💀 I switched from therapy to tarot cards. The principle is the same - you already know deep down how to decide about something, but need someone/something to confirm.
Math, and the imperfections of it
I love math and can’t wait to go teach my week-long Summer math course again. You might have heard that math can never be complete, or as one YouTuber put it, “there is a hole at the bottom of math”. 😱
There are famous theorems to prove this unsettling fact - Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorems. I tried to explain them in a way that actually makes sense to non-mathematical people. :) So far, I've gotten some very nice feedback. :)
I interviewed a quantum computing scientist
Every time a movie has trouble explaining something, they pull the “quantum” card.
Similarly, every time I feel uncertain in my life, I turn to learning more about quantum mechanics. I had the honor of interviewing Joel Pendleton, whom I once met at a hackathon. He’s building a company in quantum computing and is super-smart.
Our discussion got so extensive that we put it into chapters. It’s about the quantum computing landscape, what to expect, what is realistic, including some theory behind quantum computers…
Welcome to my Book Club
After The Art of Doing Science and Engineering, I read Material World. I loved both, and both are much funnier than they sound, I promise!
I also got recommended The Beginning of Infinity, which I am starting to read next. I’m also listening to The Three Body Problem in an audiobook format, but it wasn’t that much fun so far - does it get better?
Random poll of the day
Final word - Why am I writing this, again
I was actually hesitating for weeks to publish this, because I was telling myself that I should focus on growing my blog more systematically, identifying my niche, doing more marketing, making more revenue… But instead, I am writing this text without a goal, just because I have fun.
Over the last few months, I realized that not everything has to feel like a job (including hobbies, sport, or relationships), and not everything needs to be hyper-analyzed in an Excel sheet. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am trying to listen to my gut feeling more.
So I guess my blog niche = things I enjoy writing about. Of course, I’m also happy to hear your recommendations on what you like to read.
Take care & remember that life is good. :)

Instagram - I share new blog posts there.
I love reading blog posts about how other people are living their lives especially when they are in the same field. I hope you are feeling better and hopefully a vacation awaits you soon! ^^ Also I can relate to the obsession with excel spreadsheets in some way, gym, weightloss, personal projects, important dates and all have to be documented in a nicely formatted spreadsheets + obsidian notes! :D Thanks for sharing and can't wait for the photos of the lego being built!!!
